October and November Neighborhood Plantings

On Saturday, October 10, a small group got together to add planters to the Atkins Park side of the neighborhood. We’ll also be having a bigger planting on Sunday, November 1, from 10 am to 2 pm to re-plant the planters around the intersection of Virginia and N. Highland.

The October planting added many new planters to the sidewalks, spanning from Neighbor’s Pub to Ace Hardware. We loaded up our trucks with dirt, rocks, plant holders, gorgeous flowers, and other plants and herbs. Our team assembled in North Highland Park with some coffee and treats from Revolution doughnuts to warm our hearts while we planted away. We got our hands dirty while jamming to music and talking to friends, and the neighbors helped us add some cayenne to prevent squirrels from burrowing in our planters.

Then, we loaded them up on hand trucks and in the bed of our trucks, and dropped them out throughout the neighborhood. Even though we planned to be planting and arranging planters up until 2 pm, our team was so efficient, that we were finished by 1 pm!

We’re so happy with how it has made the street more vibrant, and we look forward to our next planting in November. Come join us and spruce up the neighborhood at our next planting on Sunday, November 1, from 10 am to 2 pm.
