About MHAG

Mental Health America of Georgia (MHAG) is the state’s affiliate of National Mental Health America, and was founded in 1957. MHAG is a nonprofit organization with a mission to enhance Georgia’s mental health and wellness through education, outreach, and advocacy. MHAG improves lives for people who struggle with behavioral health challenges and promotes policies to support mental illness, health, and wellness for all Georgians.

MHAG strives to reduce suicide rates and eliminate the stigma associated with mental illness. We promote and advocate for mental health as a critical part of overall wellness. We offer prevention services and early identification, develop and deliver training and youth programs, and provide resource and referral materials. We also train first responders, teachers, and community leaders to serve vulnerable populations (active military, veterans and their families, older adults, citizens released from incarceration, children, and the homeless) who are at risk of developing or experiencing mental health challenges. Our goal is to provide mental health care access for all.
