The Dirty Tea opened on October 4 in Virginia Highland, making a pink dream come true for a mother-daughter duo. Rita and Brittany Campos have brought to the community a luxurious afternoon tea experience. After limitless patience, the family succeeded in turning an abandoned storefront into a delicately stunning tea lounge. With ornate tea sets at every table and pink scalloped chairs, it’s easy to feel transported into their ethereal dream.

The hour and a half experience begins by selecting your locally sourced tea and includes four sandwiches, six pastries, and four macrons. The food selections will change with the seasons, making the experience perfect for any year-round event such as bridal or baby showers, memorable Mother’s Days, birthday celebrations, or even just a fun Tuesday!

As is the British tradition, the afternoon tea experience is centered around a “mind, body, and soul” relaxation method, which is a reminder to take a moment out of your day to unwind, have good conversation, and enjoy the simpler things in life.

The dynamic pair moved to Atlanta in 2023 and were drawn to open a business in the Virginia Highland neighborhood because Co-Owner Rita said “it felt right” and reminded the pair of their community back home in the Carolinas.

The sense of community and substantial support from local businesses provided the pair with the perfect location to delve into this new adventure. With the encouragement of family and friends, the previously derelict storefront was renewed with as much love and patience as two highly determined women can provide.

Community support is reciprocated as the tea parlor collaborates with local businesses such as Alon’s Bakery and Chamblee tea company, ZenTea. As an African American and female-owned business, The Dirty Tea brings a valuable voice to the neighborhood.

Leave your troubles behind and step into a delicate tea shop filled with finger sandwiches desserts, and the mother-daughter duo’s pink dream come to life.

The Dirty Tea is open Wednesday through Sunday for afternoon and evening service. Check out their website to learn more and stop by to show your support to Virginia Highland’s newest and shiniest addition.
