Atlanta Artist Chris Condon has been commissioned to create a sculpture for a parklet in Virginia Highlands, and he needs your help.
The sculpture will depict three historical elements important to Atlanta’s past: the railroad, the brick industry and the red wolf, a creature that once freely roamed the area but is now endangered. It will be located at the end of Greenwood Ave, at the parklet next to the Beltline entrance.
Chris will be sculpting three life-sized red wolves and install them on a section of abandoned railroad track, which he will recreate from repurposed bricks and railroad ties. This is where he needs your help.
Chris has been collecting bricks from demolished sites along the beltline, but he needs more. Help support this wolf trio literally and figuratively by donating any used bricks from your home or garden to the project. If we all come together, we can bring attention and support to endangered animals and highlight some important themes of Atlanta’s past.
Go to his website and fill out the Brick Donation Form. Be sure to include your address and email. Chris will send you a reminder to put your bricks out on the curb so he can pick them on Sunday, May 15th.
