Every Sunday at 9:00 am, you can stretch and strengthen your muscles, amp up your mindfulness practice, and sip mimosas with your friends and neighbors. You don’t want to miss out on our weekly Yoga and Mimosas in John Howell park, put on by yoga instructor and life coach Tara Van Dam.

After moving to the Highlands from South Africa and overcoming her own struggles, Tara dedicated herself to learning all about holistic healing, mindfulness, and balance. This inspired her to start Whollistic Joy Wellness, her all-in-one yoga, mindfulness, and meditation coaching.

According to Tara, “each person has all the strengths and magic within them to achieve their desires.” She also believes that “each person’s life has value and should be joyful and purposeful.” Tara brings just that to her yoga and mindfulness practice every Sunday, combining movement with stillness to bring forth both self-awareness and strength-building.

As Tara puts it, “[w]hat is often missing however is not truly knowing how to uncover these strengths and purpose [that each person has within them] and that’s where I come in.” Virginia Highland already has strength and purpose throughout its community members, so this Sunday practice allows us to build and grow together.
